In household products, it creates a protective coating or shine on a surface. In our products to protect leather, it helps increase the gloss. Dimethicone also can be a moisturizer. As a moisturizer, it helps prevent a product or surface, like leather, from drying out by helping it retain moisture. This makes it softer and more pliable.
