Acrylic polymer is a film former that works in combination with rinsing water to keep surfaces cleaner longer. It works by first attaching to the surface and then helping to prevent soils from attaching so that they can be washed away by water. It is especially good at helping prevent soap scum from adhering to shower and sink surfaces. In certain formulas, adding Acrylic polymer to our products helps increase the glossy appearance on the surfaces where it is applied.

Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether is a solubilizer that ensures the even distribution of the ingredients throughout a product to help it work better. No matter how much you shake or blend a formula that combines oil and water, over time the oils will separate from the rest of the liquid - just like salad dressing. A solubilizer like mineral spirits helps keep our product formula well mixed.

C.I. 77266 is a colourant, or dye. We add dyes to products for a variety of reasons including helping you see where you applied the product, when a product is used up, or for aesthetic reasons. In Shoe Care products, dyes or pigments also help to restore colour or scuff cover. This colourant is available from multiple suppliers, which are responsible for its contents.

Propylene glycol is a solubilizer that can also be found in cosmetics, toothpaste, food, and beer. It is sometimes confused with ethylene glycol, the sweet-tasting ingredient that can be used in air conditioning systems and antifreeze products, but it is a different ingredient. Propylene glycol is used in our products to help ensure the even distribution of the ingredients throughout a product, to help it work better. We also use it as an odor eliminator; as a cleaning agent, or "surfactant," that removes dirt; as a wetting agent; or as a carrier that enables delivery of the product to the surface. In certain products, Propylene glycol works as a moisturizer helping to prevent a product or surface, like leather, from drying out by retaining moisture, which makes the material softer and more pliable.

Ammonium hydroxide is commonly referred to as "ammonia." Many consumers use it at home for cleaning and laundry. It’s a cleaning agent, or "surfactant," that removes dirt, and it can also be used as a pH adjuster that alters the pH of a product to improve stability. Every formula has an optimum pH to make it work best. For example, a formula that’s more acidic works better for soap scum removal. Its opposite, a formula that’s more alkaline, might be more effective at removing grease or greasy soils. We use pH adjusters to make sure we achieve the best pH for a particular job. Also, the pH of a formula can affect how long it lasts within a container – for example limiting its tendency to corrode a can, container, or dispenser. Household ammonia has a strong odour; by using ammonium hydroxide in combination with other ingredients, we can achieve the same cleaning results while using much less ammonia.

Polyethylene Glycol Trimethyl Nonylphenyl Ether is a wetting agent that can also be found in paint and textiles. Adding Polyethylene Glycol Trimethyl Nonylphenyl Ether to our products helps the formula spread across a surface, such as leather, making it work better.

1,2 benziosothiazol -3(2H) one is a preservative that helps maintain product quality and performance over time. Some people raise concerns about preservatives because a small number of individuals have allergies to them, just as some people have allergies to nuts or bees. But preservatives play a very important role in food, cosmetics, and household products. Without preservatives, many products would not last more than a week or two before being contaminated by bacteria, mould, or yeast. So, we feel that the best choice is to add preservatives in the smallest effective quantity to protect our products, but also to list these preservatives in our formulas so that those with allergies in the family can make informed choices.
