Butane is a propellant used to dispense a product from a container. It is often used in concert with other propellants such as isobutane and propane. While butane is commonly known for its use in heaters and lighters, in use as a propellant its energy comes from being compressed in a can rather than from being lit or heated.
Propane is a propellant used to dispense a product from a container. It is often used in concert with other propellants such as butane and isobutane. While propane is commonly known for its use as a fuel, for example for grills and portable stoves, in use as a propellant its energy comes from being compressed in a can rather than from being lit or heated.
Isobutane is a propellant used to dispense a product from a container. It is often used in concert with other propellants such as butane and propane. While isobutane is commonly known for its use as a fuel, for example for camp stoves, in use as a propellant its energy comes from being compressed in a can rather than from being lit or heated.
Dearomatized alkanes is a carrier that can also be found in cosmetics. A carrier does just what it sounds like -- it helps carry a product to a surface by thinning or thickening the formula or simply ensuring even distribution of the other ingredients in the formula. We use dearomatized alkanes because without a carrier, the product would not work with the same consistency across a surface.
Dimethicone is a silicone film former that can also be found in skin lotions, bath soaps and shampoos. Sometimes referred to as “silicone oil,” dimethicone is the most widely used silicone polymer and is particularly known for its ability to smoothly coat a surface and leave it protected, without being sticky. In products that are applied to the skin, dimethicone can also be used as an emollient that helps soften and smooth the skin. In household products, it creates a protective coating or shine on a surface. In our products to protect leather, it helps increase the gloss. Dimethicone also can be a moisturizer. As a moisturizer, it helps prevent a product or surface, like leather, from drying out by helping it retain moisture. This makes it softer and more pliable.
Sorbitan oleate is an emulsifier that can also be found in moisturizers, hair-styling products and soaps. It helps bind ingredients together and keep a formula from separating. In fragranced products, it also helps ensure even distribution of the fragrance. We add emulsifiers to our products where needed to ensure that our products provide the same performance use after use.

Microcrystalline wax is a film former that can also be found in cosmetics, chewing gum and eye drops. It creates a coating or shine on a surface. This means that the surface has an added level of protection, and also has the shine that helps the surface look its best. It can also be used as a binder that holds a product's ingredients together. We add microcrystalline wax to products so that when other ingredients are compressed, they hold together in a solid shape.
Methylisothiazolinone is a preservative that can also be found in shampoos, skin care products and makeup. It helps maintain product quality and performance over time. Some people raise concerns about preservatives, because a small number of individuals have allergies to them just as some people have allergies to nuts or bees. But preservatives play a very important role in food, cosmetics and household products. Without preservatives, many products would not last more than a week or two before being contaminated by bacteria, mold or yeast. So, we feel the best choice is to add preservatives in the smallest effective quantity to protect our products, but to list these preservatives in our formulas so that those with allergies in the family can make informed choices.

Polysorbate 80 is an emulsifier that can also be found in moisturizers, makeup and shampoo. The food-grade version of polysorbate 80 is one of the most common emulsifiers used in ice cream. It helps bind ingredients together and keep a formula from separating. In fragranced products, it also helps ensure even distribution of the fragrance. We add emulsifiers to our products where needed to ensure that our products provide the same performance use after use.
