Timp de aproape 10 ani, ne-am depășit obligațiile impuse de lege pentru a le oferi oamenilor acele informații necesare despre ingrediente, astfel încât aceștia să poată face alegerile corecte pentru ei înșiși și pentru familiile lor. Am adăugat informații despre alergenii pentru piele pe toate produsele noastre, ca parte a angajamentului nostru pentru transparență.
ÎNȚELEGEREA ALERGENILOR PENTRU PIELE
Un alergen pentru piele (numit și alergen cutanat sau alergen de contact) este o substanță pe care sistemul imunitar o consideră o amenințare, inițiind astfel un răspuns defensiv. Însă este important să rețineți că prezența unui alergen de contact într-un produs nu înseamnă că o persoană va experimenta automat sensibilități alergice.
Alergiile cutanate pot fi create sau induse atunci când o persoană este expusă la un alergen pe o durată mare de timp și într-o doză care depășește un anumit nivel. Acest lucru se numește “inducție.” După ce o persoană dezvoltă o alergie cutanată la o anumită substanță, poate avea o reacție precum roșeață sau iritație. Acest lucru se numește “declanșare.” Apariția sau neapariția unei reacții are legătură cu doza sau cantitatea expunerii. La SC Johnson, avem grijă să utilizăm ingredientele cu alergeni în cantități suficient de reduse pentru a reduce la minim posibilitatea apariției unei noi alergii cutanate sau a declanșării unei reacții alergice. Cu toate acestea, persoanele cu alergii cutanate preexistente pot beneficia de avantajul de a ști dacă un anumit ingredient este folosit în produsele noastre.
DE CE COMUNICĂM LISTA ALERGENILOR PENTRU PIELE?
Căutăm în permanență modalități de a spori transparența produselor noastre. De la lansarea acestui site web în 2009, am adăugat progresiv detalii despre coloranți (2009), conservanți (2011) și parfumuri (2012). Încă din 2015 am publicat informații despre parfumurile utilizate în produsele noastre cu o acuratețe de până la 99,9%, iar în 2016 am lansat prima noastră colecție de odorizante de cameră cu o transparență de 100% în privința parfumurilor.
Dorim să le oferim familiilor consumatorilor noștri și mai multe informații despre produsele pe care le folosesc în casele lor. În acest sens, am decis să facem publice toate substanțele cu alergeni, cu o acuratețe care va depăși normele impuse de lege, atât în Uniunea Europeană, cât și în Statele Unite (unde nu există cerințe în domeniul transparenței privind alergenii).
DESPRE LISTA NOASTRĂ
Pentru a stabili ce anume trebuie menționat ca alergen pentru piele, am conceput un proces solid de evaluare, alături de un grup de consilieri științifici, din care fac parte experți în dermatologie, imuno-toxicologie, toxicologia parfumurilor și alergeni.
Din grupul de experți care a validat metodele de studiu fac parte:
- David Basketter, doctor în științe, consultant independent și expert internațional de renume în domeniul alergiilor; fost director al Departamentului de cercetări privind siguranța din cadrul companiei Unilever
- David Bickers, medic, președinte al Departamentului de dermatologie, Universitatea Columbia
- Dr. Peter Cadby, fost director pentru siguranța produselor în cadrul Firmenich
- Axel Schnuch, medic, Universitatea din Göttingen; fost director al IVDK (Information Network of Departments of Dermatology - Rețeaua de informare a departamentelor de dermatologie)
- Dr. Peter Thorne, director al Departamentului de sănătate ocupațională și a mediului, Universitatea Iowa; director al Centrului de cercetare în științele sănătății mediului
Am analizat circa 3.000 de seturi de date din surse publice și din industrie, pentru a identifica potențialii alergeni pentru piele care figurează pe listele de reglementare naționale, pe listele din industria parfumurilor, în informațiile furnizate de Comisia științifică europeană privind siguranța consumatorului și, de asemenea, în datele clinice de dermatologie și în fișele de date privind siguranța ale anumitor furnizori individuali.
