We use dearomatized alkanes because without a carrier, the product would not work with the same consistency across a surface.

Dimethicone is a silicone film former that can also be found in skin lotions, bath soaps and shampoos. Sometimes referred to as “silicone oil,” dimethicone is the most widely used silicone polymer and is particularly known for its ability to smoothly coat a surface and leave it protected, without being sticky. In products that are applied to the skin, dimethicone can also be used as an emollient that helps soften and smooth the skin. In household products, it creates a protective coating or shine on a surface. In our products to protect leather, it helps increase the gloss. Dimethicone also can be a moisturizer. As a moisturizer, it helps prevent a product or surface, like leather, from drying out by helping it retain moisture. This makes it softer and more pliable.

Sorbitan Oleate is an emulsifier that can also be found in moisturizers, hair-styling products and soaps. It helps bind ingredients together and keep a formula from separating. In fragranced products, it also helps ensure even distribution of the fragrance. We add emulsifiers to our products where needed to ensure that our products provide the same performance use after use.

This means that the surface has an added level of protection, and also has the shine that helps the surface look its best. It can also be used as a binder that holds a product's ingredients together. We add microcrystalline wax to products so that when other ingredients are compressed, they hold together in a solid shape.

So, we feel the best choice is to add preservatives in the smallest effective quantity to protect our products, but to list these preservatives in our formulas so that those with allergies in the family can make informed choices.
