LPG is a propellant that can also be found in home cleaning products including grease removers, hard surface cleaners and glass cleaners. In our products it works as a propellant to dispense a product from a container.
Ethanol is a solubilizer that can also be found in makeup, lotions and hair care products. It works by dissolving the ingredients of a product to help them mix together better. It also can act as a carrier or as a cleaning agent that helps dissolve soils. Ethanol is the same alcohol that's found in alcoholic beverages, but in consumer products it is used in very small amounts to make the product work better.
Dipotassium phosphate is a corrosion inhibitor that, along with being used in consumer products, is also an additive to various food products such as non-dairy creamers, where it helps balance the acidity of the coffee. Dipotassium phosphate helps keep contents fresh and prevent the corrosion or rusting of a can, container or dispenser. We know there are concerns about phosphates and their impact on waterways and surface water. However, dipotassium phosphate is used in low concentrations to limit the concentrations of total phosphate being used in SC Johnson products and potentially released to surface waters.
Potassium nitrite is a preservative that can also be found in cured meat products. It helps maintain product quality and performance over time. Some people raise concerns about preservatives, because a small number of individuals have allergies to them just as some people have allergies to nuts or bees. But preservatives play a very important role in food, cosmetics and household products. Without preservatives, many products would not last more than a week or two before being contaminated by bacteria, mold or yeast. So, we feel the best choice is to add preservatives in the smallest effective quantity to protect our products, but to list these preservatives in our formulas so that those with allergies in the family can make informed choices
